Coved

Sanitation subsidiary of the Saur group, Coved manages the entire chain of activities associated with the collection, cleaning, sorting, recovery, and treatment of waste. With 2,900 employees, Coved realized net sales (*) of 306 million euros for 2009. (*) Net sales = sales excluding surtaxes collected on behalf of local governments and organisations.

Coved manages all of the following trades:
> conventional household waste collection
> selective household waste collection
> collection of common industrial waste
> transportation of waste towards waste treatment centres
> treatment of waste in sorting centres and composting platforms
> burial of waste in waste disposal facilities (class I: hazardous waste -class II: non-toxic waste -class III: inert waste)

Based on a relationship of transparency and trust with local authorities, Coved performs its public service mission for 5 million residents: global sanitation solutions (collection, sorting, cleaning, graffiti removal, sewer cleaning & sanitation), dialogue with the community, discussion with stakeholders, protection of both the community’s quality of life and the environment.

Service to business

Coved offers industry its know-how as a specialist at the heart of the challenges associated with its activity. The subsidiary covers a very wide range of waste treatment for business: Common industrial waste (CIW), hazardous waste, hospital waste, bio waste, waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), toxic waste in dispersed quantity (TWDQ), tyres, very low radioactive waste, etc.
In 2005, Coved considerably boosted its competency in the treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment by acquiring Ecosynthèse and setting up a nationwide network of 35 WEEE collection centres.

Treatment and recovery

> 34 sorting/pooling centres separate the different types of waste (paper, newspapers-magazines, cardboard, plastic, scrap metal, etc.), package them in bales, and then send them towards the appropriate recycling sites.
> 17 biological treatment platforms (green waste, FFHW – Fermentable Fraction of Household Waste, sewage sludge) and 34 waste disposal centres (ISDND: non-toxic waste disposal facilities) treat and recover waste.
